Bought a Trip 35 in immaculate condition (inside/out) for $AUD12 ($7US).
Yes, another bargain :P
Can anyone tell me how (and which) flash is best dealt with on this little
gem? Just curious. This could be my new street-shooter for when I don't wish
to pack $1000+ worth of 4Ti and a 35 f2.
As to John Hudson's query - I wouldn't angst too much over it. We are all
victims of unconsenting surveillance every day. Each time you go in to a
public building or comply with another paper-shufflers request to jump
through a bureaucratic hoop. At least you're an aspiring/semi-/professional
(?) artist, actually CREATING something, rather than a "don't blame me, I
just work here" conspirator in the incremental attrition of the human
spirit.
On a more practical note, some of the best photojournalism in the world has
been made in this fashion. There are many instances where the obvious
presence of a camera may have resulted in a different kind of "shot".
Although this type of work carries its own ethical dilemmas, precisely
because of the subject matter. I think it was Sebastiao Salgado who once
said "it got too difficult, taking perfectly exposed, beautifully composed
images of human suffering". Guilt can crush even one of the world's most
talented documentary photojournalists it seems. (Another interesting
anecdote about Salgado - he was lurking on the very corner - with three M
series Lei*cas - when Reagan was shot. Legend has it he burned through
100-odd frames in just under two minutes. Talk about right place, right
time. What a man.)
