Not a myth, at least in my non-scientific experience. My mom does the same
thing to watches and nearly anything electrical or electronic. I've never
known one person to kill so many TVs, stereos and even cars by mere
proximity. It'll be interesting to see how the iS-2 fares in prolonged
exposure to her aura.

As for your bad luck with bodies, maybe you're a magnetic personality. My
wife's aunt can't wear a mechanical wrist watch for any amount of time
before
it stops. Magnetic interference, she claims. I guess people believe in
goofier things.
