B&H is almost globally regarded (I daren't presume for Martians) as among
the most reliable of mail order dealers. (They're the only dealer which
maintains a presence on CompuServe in the person of Henry Posner, who has
fielded countless questions and taken the occasional flak for his efforts.)
Adorama nearly so, tho' I occasionally hear reports of slow deliveries on
certain items. KEH also has an excellent reputation and seems to be carrying
more new gear. Cameta Camera has a pretty good rep (mostly used, except for
some fairly exotic items).
Best suggestion: check the "Neighbor to Neighbor" consumer experience
postings via Philip Greenspun's www.photo.net. But bear in mind regarding
some negative postings that a small number of consumers simply cannot be
satisfied. Virtually every mail order outfit with any significant number of
comments has received at least some negative feedback.

What are your experiences ordering OM gear from State-side mail order
houses such as those in New York? (You've seen their multi-page ads.)
