Gary:
A) You did a good job of spelling it *this* time, at least. ;-)
B) The Aurora Borealis was out a couple of nights ago here in Edmonton --
which is quite a feat, since normally the lights from the city completely
obscure the rather faint Northerns. These babies must have been incredibly
bright -- I could view them over top of an orange-coloured sodium streetlight
around 9:30 P.M. local time. Intense pastel green, shifting constantly over
about a 100-degree arc centred around north-northeast, about 35 degrees up from
the horizon.
Unfortunately, I was walking my dog at the time, and didn't have any one of my
OMs. Damn! I stood awestruck for about three minutes, and was only brought
back to myself by my dog whining and jumping on my leg, asking me what the
matter was and why weren't we moving at all. Sorry, pup. Just marveling at
one of the nice things about fall and winter here in the Great White North.
Gonna see if I can get a night or two of aurora photography this weekend,
depending on activity. Since it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, Sunday
night's right out. I'll be too full of turkey to move off the couch, much less
wind on my OMs. 8^>
