I suppose if we ever want to control it we need to a)develop a taste for
it, b)harvest it for cloth or rope or whatever the fiber is good for, or
c)discover it is a relative in the hemp family and let the government
remove it for us :-)

As the List's resident botanist, I reckon I should step in and pipe up.
Kudzu Vine (Pueraria lobata) is a native of Japan. Contrary to popular
belief, it was originally introduced for its edible starchy root and for
its fiber. The starch is reportedly commonly eaten by Japanese, although
I'll defer to our resident Japanese list subscribers on whether they
have ever had it.
