I've
tried keeping it all in a wall unit (got tired of dusting and
packing/repacking.
I put glass doors on mine -- an Ikea "Billy." That keeps the dust
out. I also put glass shelves and four little halogen "under counter"
lights in there, to help me see things AND to keep the humidity down
and the dreaded fungus at bay. I topped it off with a cute little
brass hasp and lock, just in case some light fingers go by. Now I can
instantly see what I want and scoop it into a fanny pack (that's "bum
bag" to you in Oz :-) whenever I need to. Plus the stuff looks nice
behind glass.
When I kept things in drawers, bags, cases, etc. I never knew where
it was. For anything unusual, like macro or multiple flash, I had to
search for half an hour to get all the proper bits together! :-(
Do you guys fill up a
wondrously heavy magni-case and really lug it around? Or do you keep a case
like this aluminum one on the trunk and work out of the car more?
I tried to keep everything in a large, LowePro backpack, but it
weighed a ton, all of it wouldn't fit, and I had to unload much of it
when I wanted to actually USE it as a backpack, rather than a storage
area. So I'm trying out the theory that storage is storage and totage
is totage, and specialize the two situations according to their needs.
