Thanks for this information although it causes me some concern.
Before and after locking I definitely took several other shots at longish
exposures (1/4 - 1/8th secondish), so is this a hard failure or is it
intermittent?
I bought the camera from a dealer who provided a 6 months warranty - so I'll
keep an eye on it.
Thanks also for everyone else who offered advice.
