The 2 series screens are brighter but only work on 2s and later bodies with
'semi silvered' mirrors.. The OM1 and 2 used a solid mirror surface which
reflects all light to the viewfinder while the later mirrors split the light
between the viewfinder and the meter.
Were the 2 series screens designed to overcome the darker finder inherent with
a light splitting mirror?
A crude experiment (using a reflective light meter through the viewfinder)
showed no significant difference between a 1n with a 1-13 screen and a 4 with a
2-13 screen and a 2-s with a Beattie screen.
Subjectively the 1-13 screen seems grainier than the 2- or Beattie screens. The
Beattie seems brightest with the 2- next.
When I get some time I'll try to refine the experiment and try swapping screens
between the camera; seems like a 2 (or Beattie) in the 1n should be brightest
and a 1- screen in the 2s the darkest.
