The ones in the $300 range don't have multiple sensors, so they can't
give you travel times on the first and second curtain. THAT is critical
information, because even if a centered sensor says you are within specs
on any given speed, if the curtains aren't in sync, your picture will be
darker on one end vs. the other (i.e., tapering). That condition is
pretty common (albeit at widely different levels) in older shutters,
esp. mechanical ones. And you can't just tweak your exposure
compensation to compensate for it!
