Maybe Olympus want to wait until the digital chip resolution can do
justice to the Zuiko optics......

In the meantime, DPreview reports the announcement of a new 400/4 lens
from Canon, 8cm shorter and 1kg lighter, using a multilayer diffraction
grating as one of the elements. This could be the end of conventional
optics as we know them in any case.
(It also could make an enormous difference in applying regular lenses
to digicams.)
