[OM] Anyone know what this OM adapter is for?

This adapter came with an OM-4 that I purchased.  Looks like ti might be for
a microscope or telescope?  There are threads, and an connection pin that
sets the aperture inside the camera as "open".  Sorry for the rotten photos
and scans (I gave up my macro lens...).
