Try reversing the polarity of the pc cord.  you also may try using the 283 
on low power to trigger a slave attached to the studio strobes.  My OM-4t 
won't set off the inexpensive studio strobes I got off E-bay unless I plug 
in the pc cord backwards.  John Gettis
