I'd like to add some info on this:
According to a German test, the Tokina SZ-X 4.0-5.6/70-210 mm lens got 9.4
points (="super") , while the Tamron 4-5.6/70-210 mm only got 7.2 points,
which is not too impressive.
Tokina also made a compact SZ-X 4.5-5.6/80-200 mm, which got 8 points in a
similar test, i.e. not as good as the 70-210 version.
These lenses were testet around 1987-88.
I have the Tokina 70-210 myself, bought second hand for about 100 $. A nice
compact lens, but 5.6 at 200 mm is not much if you are using 100 ISO slide
film and it is a cloudy day.
