The only real advantage of the 1 or 1n would be that they will operate if the
battery is dead, but you would lose the meter w/o the battery, and all
exposure settings have to be made manually with or without the battery
working. This camera is especially useful for those who visit remote
locations where batteries might not be available, who work in very cold
conditions where batteries might not function, or for long time exposures,
due to its mirror lockup feature.
The 2n has the advantage of aperture-preferred OTF exposure, which is
especially useful with flash photography. OTF will give you more good
exposures without the labor of calculating flash settings manually. The
Olympus OTF exposure system has been praised for its accuracy since its
introduction.
