It could something as simple as someone taking the mount off and not putting
it back on correctly. Or, it could be a busted/bent part inside. If it were
an otherwise valuable lens (any of the f/2 series), I would be try and buy it
at a very low price and then try and fix it myself. Unless you can actually *
see* oil in there, I wouldn't believe the diagnosis.
