: This week I've been scanning some pictures I've taken in Indonesia. Two
: pictures are from very odd insects (one close-up and one family portret).
I
: have uploaded them already to my macro page:

:
: Has anybody a clue about what kind of insect this is?
: The picture is taken in the northern rain forest of Sumatra.
: As usual I have used the 50 mm F3.5 macro for this picture.
: I would be very pleased if I could find the name of this type of insect.
It looks like a member of the Fulgoridae family, in English 'Lantern
Bearers', in Dutch 'Lantaarndragers'. They are related to the Cicada, a
group of plant lice that can produce loud sounds.
