Hello all,
I'm pretty sure that the Vivitar 17mm was actually manufactured by Tamron and
is the same lens as the SP 17mm Tamron. Spiratone also had one and it
definitely was the Tamron. It is an excellent lens and is very sharp!
The other tamron lenses that are worth outstanding ratings are the 90mm macro,
the 180mm SPLD f2.5, the 300mm f2.8 (not the first light grey version) and the
400mm f4 primes. All these lenses are every bit as good as an original
manufacturer lens.
What I miss in the Olympus lineup though is a 135mm f2 . I had one for my Canon
FD system for years and it was incredible. I know the zuiko 135mm f2.8 is
supposed to be good but I want that extra stop and 100mm is not long enough and
180mm f2 is too big. Is there another option that I do not know about? How is
the Vivitar 135mm f2.3? or the Soligor 135mm f2? anything else?
Thanks,
James
P.S. Is the Tamron 350mm f5.6 CAT as good as Gary's lens tests show it to be?
