Hi! Can the OM mount on a Vivitar Series 1 lens be removed and placed on
another Vivitar Series 1 lens that currently has a Canon or Nikon mount

The reason for making those lenses with interchangeable adapters was to
make
one lense available for use on a variety of cameras. As Brian says, the
camera-specific adapter is designed to make the lense work on a particular
camera. The lense is the same regardless of the camera it is mounted on.
The
adapter is what makes it fit and couple properly. The optic quality, or
lack
thereof, is built into the lens, not the adapter. The adapter is merely a
mechanical coupling device. IOW, changing to the OM mount adapter should
merely adapt the lens to the OM. Of course being on an OM should
dramatically
increase the potential for making good pictures. <g>
