Actually, I haven't gone yet, leaving on Wednesday... The good news being
the lad won the first stage time trial, thereby becoming the first Scot to
wear the yellow jersey of leadership. He also picked up the points jersey
(green) and the Best Young Rider jersey (white). I'm afraid I got a little
carried away...
Now the sad tale. It all started so well.
Went to Glasgow for bits to finish off my new bike, and a Rohan Multi-Pocket
Vest to store all my Zuikos in for France (obOly). Then to Quiggs Camera
shop for a quick look. Well, the only thing I took a look at, really, was a
35RC, one little ding at the wind lever, otherwise rather nice. 69UKP on it.
Then, stupidly, I asked what was wrong with the iS3000 in the window (price
169UKP, had been well over 200 a few weeks ago). "Nothing, just can't shift
it. Yours for 150UKP." What about both cameras? "Flat 200UKP."
Well, I reckon you can guess the rest. I have already confessed to being
'very naughty' to the SO. Just not how naughty yet.
BTW, bike is now finished, looks gorgeous, is rapid (even with me pedalling)
and light. Sent Simon a pic (without the bottle cages and computer) but
haven't any web space up and running yet. Soon, I hope.
Donald.
