Hmmmmm.... It occurs to me that my Tokina 500/8 has the dreaded screw
hole right over the OM-4t lens reset switch. I filled mine with epoxy
to be sure it wouldn't shear off the lens reset switch (a guess at
the actual name of the little plastic button that tells the camera a
new lens has been mounted.) I don't know that this would cause the
problem you're experiencing, but it could be related.
