Both the Leica Noctilux for the rangefinder M-System, And the Cannon
50 F/1 are designed for journalist use only. While the F 1.2 standart lenses
offers good overall performance, are these lenses only specialists.
The performance wide open is only usable in the center.
As far as I know, is the OM-Bayonett not wide enough for a F/1 speed.
( Flange-Distance). Guess Leica can`t even built a F/1.2 for their SLR-Bayonett.
So F/1.4 are the fastes Leica R-Lenses.
When I look at a table with all ever produced Zuiko`s, I´m always fascinated
how carefully the OM-line was designed and trimmed. Sure the latest gear of
reference-glass is missing, but not a pity for general use.
Take in Mind: Olympus was the first manufacturer of a 24/F2-Prime, and the
21F/2 is still without compettitor. So Olympus offers a full line of F2- Lenses
from 21 to 250mm. Inluding two fine Maco`s where other`s only offer F2.8 speed
in both focal length`s (O.K the 135 F/2 is missing - but not for me ;-).
This is not enough, altough these F/2 lenses are as compact as possible,
there is always an even more compact F/2.8 or F 3.5 alternative! - Choose what
you want!
Sure, while other manufacturers offer more variety of focal lenght x, but then
they have ony one speed at focal length y. I think Olympus did a very fine job
to have two lenses throughout the most used focal lenghts. (21 ->200mm)
I can only locate gaps in the Zoom line.
Regarding to the 200mm
