You may get a lot of opinions but many of the professional photographers who
shoot B & W primarily swear by Kodak Tri-X ASA 400. If you develop your own B
& W negatives (And if not , why not? It's a lot of fun.), HC 110 seems to be
the developer of choice. If you have to send it out, I'd look for a lab which
specializes in B & W. If you want to go to your corner drugstore for
development, you might try Kodak's B & W T-Max because it can be developed
in their C41 color developer.
