Well, what about the Texas Hill Country? It's a great place for
wildflowers,
albeit frustratingly windy. Austin has the Zilker Botanical Gardens.

Greenhouses and garden shops are good places to cheat. I recently shot some
close ups of Gerber Daisies at Wal-Mart. Who would know it wasn't South
Africa? ;>
