Subject: [OM] Stiff lens mount?
Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 12:59:49 +0000
Hi all,
May I touble you with a small problem?
The lens mount on my OM-1 seems fairly stiff. When you mount or unmount a
lens,
it feels as though you are turning against some resistance, as if two metal
surfaces are rubbing together.
On my OM-4 the lenses mount much more smoothly. On both bodies, the lenses
are
securely mounted once the locking pin is engaged. From the experiences I've
had
with other OM bodies, it's the OM-1 that's too tight, rather than the OM-4
that's too loose.
I'm a bit concerned that repeated lens changes on the OM-1 body will cause
wear
on the bayonets of the lenses. Is there something that can be adjusted to
make
the clearances less tight? Looking at the lens-mount on the body itself, I
can't
see anything that could be causing this problem.
Anyone have any similar experiences?
Thanks,
Alasdair
