I just got in an OM-1N for service which has "custom" rubber covering

The rubber has a diamond pattern to it. Anyone remember these?
Could even be late 70s. When I got my OM-1 (since stolen)
in summer 1978, they were offering that "ruggedized" covering for
eitherthe same price or a $10 increment. I didn't get it because it
didn't seem to offer any protection and was also slightly harder to
hold (if memory serves me correctly, it was some kind of almost-hard
plastic rather than rubber, and a little bit slick, so that damp
fingers would be right out).
I wonder how many of these modified OM's were sold. They certainly looked
imposing.
