You'll like the images, not the weight. Just hire a porter for those 2
mile hikes to the best photo point....or get a 4wheel drive SUV to carry
all your goodies in. I just wish I still had mine (the 350/2.8, that is).
:-(
Well, given that some Nikon/Canon nature lovers have to burden themselves
with 600/4's weighing in excess of 13 pounds!, the 8.6 pound Zuiko 350/2.8
doesn't seem like such a bad deal weight-wise. With the compatible 1.4X
teleconverter, we have a 500/4 lens which gets pretty close to the 600/4's
image size. With a good 2X TC, you're up to 700/5.6 of solid, premium-grade
Zuiko glass and you're STILL! carrying less baggage than the Canon/Nikon big
glass users. ;-)

Well, if everything works out, I think I just bought a 350/2.8 with a 1.4x
for a good, but probably not great, price. I don't know that I'll
actually
keep it, but the price was attractive enough that I know at least one list
member will want it. I've already had a few email me with interest, so
they'll get first dibs.
First, I get to play with it and decide. The addition of the 1.4 made it
particularly intriguing, as they're somewhat hard to find and not
inexpensive themselves. Certainly makes it a more versatile lens.
It won't arrive for 2-3 weeks, even if I did buy it, but I'll keep people
posted.
Thanks,
Tom
