: I have an off-topic subject I'd like to bring up to this knowledgeable
: forum. I'm been toying with the idea of trying to setup a multi-projector
: slide show. Does anyone know of any good resources for this, either from
a
: technique or equipment standpoint. Ideally I'd like a setup with two
: projectors and dissolve unit synchronized to music. Is this very
expensive?
: You'd think with everyone going digital, you might be able to find some
: universities or corporations unloading equipment of this type (money _is_
an
: object!)

I you buy such a set new, here in the Netherlands you'll need at least $800
~ $1000 (Hfl.1850 ~ 2560). This can get you for instance a pair of Leica
P300 projectors and a Leica DU 24M2 Dissolve Unit, or a Rolleivision Twin,
which is a dual projector, or a Kindermann Silent 2500 Select + Silent 2500
+ deck combi. However, this is only where it starts. These base sets come
either without lenses, or with plastic lenses, which is a waste if the
pictures have been made with high resolution lenses like our beloved Zuikos.
The added costs for two high resolution projection lenses, like the Leica
S-Colorplan 90/2.5 (a focal length suitable for at home) or Leitz 150/2.8
(for larger rooms) are about $450.

Btw, if you are in or near the Netherlands it is worthwile to visit 'De
Nationale Diaspecialist', who is not only specialized but completely
dedicated to slide projection. He also has lots of used stuff, and if you're
lucky you can get away with half or one third of the money mentioned above.

I think you must make an appointment to visit him. He knows everything about
setting up multi-projector shows.
