Even then it doesn't, or shouldn't, matter unless you want the output to
be the same size as the original (or some fixed scale) where it is
necessary to be able to work back from the pixel dimensions to the
actual size.  All that matters is that there are enough pixels to
prevent the image looking blocky or jaggy when printed.  Otherwise, what
dpi setting should one give to a 35mm frame that's to be printed as a
full page A4?
