Dear all,
I bought a used Winder 2 for my OM-2S a few years ago and managed (of
course!) to lose the little chrome-plated cap that seals up the socket
on the camera when the winder's not attached. Although my Winder 2 is
in excellent condition, works well and helps me to hold the camera
still, I sometimes find it a bit of a burden to drag around (kind of
defeats the purpose of the small, light OM body design) so I often
don't attach it. However, I have never suffered the problem of light
leaking into the OM-2S and ruining the film because of the cap not
being in place, despite Olympus's warnings about it. In fact, it has
never occurred to me to think about it until I saw something about this
subject on the list a couple of days ago. Anyway, I thought I'd mention
my experience. I'd be interested to know whether anyone on the list has
had light leakage problems due to a missing motor drive cap with
single-digit OM bodies. (I'm aware of the other risk, of dirt getting
in, of course).
Regards,
Ray
