There may be a small hole in the cog wheel which indicates 1/1000 sec
that should be straight forward when you mesh the ring with the cog.
otherwise, it's fairly simple to figure out either way. Also, "B" is
controlled by a small button near the bottom of the lens mount housing.

In manual mode, you should see the match needle meter in the viewfinder
and it should move with changes in aperture and shutter speed. The
shutter should fire at whatever speed it is set to.
