Before you ditch the camera, why not super-glue the switch to the X
position?
If you decide to ditch it, I'll pay shipping and you can dith it my way!
Seriously, glue and a Shoe4 will solve the problem... I think the Shoe4
is only about $29 from http://www.zuiko.com

Subject: [OM] That darn FP/X switch...
I am ready to throw this piece of sh.. called the OM-1 into
the river ...
Well, unless someone can help me out. For the third time,
I had a shooting session ruined because the FP/X switch on
my OM-1 got accidentally switched to FP (I have a feeling
it happened during one of the many lens changes). All the
flash shots after that were black, with no indications at
the time since the flash still flashed.
I do have an OM-1n and I understand that the FP/X switch has
no effect on the hot-shoe, which is always X. But alas, I
don't have a hot-shoe #4 for it (hint, hint, hint, ... it is
a user, so I don't need anything fancy).
So, my question to other owners of the OM-1, what do you do
to avoid this problem? Is there a permanent fix for the
FP/X switch to make it behave like the OM-1n? Were there
any factory mods for this?
