I found an interesting person on the web. He's a professor in
california somewhere. Anyway, he has an interesting perspective on this
issue. I found this essay thought provoking:

He says, among other things, that digital imaging is too real and too
perfect and that a lot of the effort in the medium has gone into
imitating analog film based photography. He has other articles on the
visual arts also.
