I would think that detents would interfer more than help, since you
wouldn't be able to set the relative angle very close to the detent
because the part would tend to slip into the detent. In other words, if
you had to set the camera platform very close to the detent position to
get things level, the pressure from the detent would tend to make the
platform "pop" into the detented position and not slightly off like you
intended. Does this make sense? Besides, there's virtually no way your
going to have a perfectly level setup for the legs, and the slop in
cernter column and head would make the detent completely wrong anyway.
