Yep, that's the right term. Named after the way rifle bayonets are fitted.
Bayonets themselves are named after the french town of Bayonne where
they were first used.
Now if I could only get my brain to remember my anniversary and forget
those other useless facts, I'd be in a lot better shape.

Pentax screw mount (M42) is the same diameter (42mm) as T-mount (but
different thread pitch. M42 is 1mm, T-mount is 0.75mm).
Your mystery thread is almost certainly the 39mm Leica Screw mount.
Keep an eye out for a Leica 1 at your next garage sale and you'll have
a nice body for it. :-)
BTW, the 39mm Leica thread is used by almost all enlargers, so next
time you're in the darkroom see if the thread matches that on the
enlarger lenses.
