A few years ago the New Jersey Supreme court decided that Shopping
Malls, having replaced Main Streets in many communities, were protected
venues for a broad range of civil rights; the activity in this case
being free speech. I wonder how or if photography fits into this
argument?
Regarding the original post about the 200mm lens in the London park, I
think security people are direted to approach only those who seem as if
they might be pros or otherwise shooting commercially. It's useful when
traveling to adopt an "amateur" persona; the chrome OM-2n with a smaller
lens, hokey multi-colored strap and no bag is ideal for this purpose. .
. . as is creating a physical impression of being somewhat of a
bumbler. I'm pretty well disposed to this effect by default, and have
only been scolded once in all my travels.
