Hey Guys,
Do you remember when I said about a year ago the effect ebay might have on
camera stores. I know I have mentioned this to a few of you on the list.
Whether it would drive the price of used stuff up or whatever.
Today KEH of Dallas went out of business, I have not actually confirmed it
myself but heard it through the grapevine. KEH in Atlanta and Dallas are
separate companies. From what I have heard they were a husband and wife
team and split up when they divorced. The wife owned and operated the shop
in Dallas.
Could ebay be the culprit here? I have heard that car dealers make most of
their money on trade-ins because they basically get your car for free or
next to nothing and auction it off for gravy.
I know KEH in Atlanta advertises that they now sell "NEW" camera stuff, they
never really did this before. Camera equipment prices are outrages, however
I just went to the Fort Worth Auto Show and could not believe some of the
prices on the new cars. I guess there must be a market for it.... Glad to
know someone is making money....
Sam...
