|German Color Foto magazine tested in issue 5/96 28 mm lenses with the
|following results:
|
|Olympus 28/2: 77 points
|Minolta AF 28/2: 76,5 points
|Nikon AF 28/1,4 D: 74,7 points
|Canon EF 28/1,8 USM: 74,1 points

|This test shows that the old Zuiko design is as good as designs made 25
|years later.

Photographer and writer Roger Hicks considers a lens modern if it was
made circa 1980 onward---around the time that computerized lens design
became widespread. This should make a number of Zuiko lenses (e.g.,
16/3.5, 18/3.5, 21/2, 24/2, 24/3.5 PC, 28/2, some incarnations of the
50/1.8, 50/1.2, 90/2, 100/2, 180/2, 250/2, 350/2.8, & 35-80/2.8)
current designs. I believe we can agree that these lenses and some of
the earlier lenses can give the competition a run for the money. ;-)
