From: Ilona Lemieux <lmx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
there seems to be some kind of benbo mystique I¥d like to poke some holes
in. I was in the grips of it till I played with one...
Sheesh -- so you "played with one." Hey, give it a break. You sound
like a PC user telling me I should dump my Mac -- or a Nikon or Canon
user questioning the veracity of Olympus!
you¥ll always tell yourself the
reason you dont really like/use the thing is because you havent yet got the
hang of it.
No, that's what YOU said to yourself when you "played with one."
There are many of us who really like Benbo, so quit trying to
psychoanalyze us into not really liking it.
Everyone is different. I don't expect to convince Ilona the Benbo is
wonderful, and I resent Ilona's implication that anyone who does like
it is self-delusional.
Like Olympus (and Macintosh), Benbos retain value better than
traditional tripods. So try one, and sell it if you can't understand
it. The fact that it's hard to find used ones at less than 850f
list price speaks to its acceptance by its users.
