Hi Bill,
You have already received some great advise from Hans and Frank. So I'll
just add one more tip.
When you have the image AND cross-hairs in the best focus you can, move your
head/eye from side to side. If the cross-hairs move in relation to the
image, you are not in focus. Tweak a little more until there is no relative
movement of the cross-hairs.
