I would characterize polished Ti to be a dark gray/brown.
One of my 4t's is very "brassed" and the ti is actually quite shiny
and "white" like silver.
The old Teledyne Titan Titanium bike frames were raw Ti as I remember, and
were a real headache to keep looking nice. Every fingerprint and smudge
would show up on them. They seemed to be a dull, but not bead-blasted
finish.
You're talking about my current road bike (though upgraded to new
Campy Chorus). Yes it's CP and a dull finish but it's far easier to
keep nice looking than a Litespeed or Serrota.
The frame was very whippy, great for light riders doing steady time
trial speeds but not good for gorillas doing sprints.
I don't race it, just lot's of mountain mileage -- very smooth ride
and not at all bendy when I'm out of the saddle on steep climbs.
