Yes, it happened to my fairly new one in the late 80's. I sent it back to
Olympus and it sounded like it was a common problem. I have not had a
problem since, but back then I used a UV for protection, not any more. I
only use a polarizer filter now days.
Just a word of caution.

Seriously - is the front part of this lens really so loose it can come off
