All of the major camera makers made very comparable lenses at any
given point in time. The only reason there is any disparity at
all really is that some manufacturers have not continued to
update their designs and have fallen behind, eg many Olympus
telephotos are old designs that are on-par with 70's and early 80's
nikon telephotos, but not up to par with today's offerings.
the Zuikos 100mm and shorter, and the fast glass series (180/2, 250/2,
and 350/2.8) can stand up next to any similar lens from anyone.
Most of the other telephoto offerings from Olympus do not quite
measure up to similar offerings from Leica, Nikon, or Canon today.
