Speaking of the February, National Geographic...
Alexandra Boulat's photo essay on pages 72-83 (USA version) is simply
incredible. The photograph on pages 74-75 is haunting with those young
boy's eyes staring right into yours. The photo on the top of page 76
(Bodies in the forest) at first came across as a mushroom photo until I
realized I was looking at a hand.
Didn't really care for her photos in the previous article though. This is
an example where the photographer's emotion can either make or break a
story. I didn't feel that her heart was into the Albanians article and it
shows.
Finally, my wife's comment regarding the cover photo: "Why do they have to
put such ugly pictures on the cover?" Can't say I disagree this month.
