Olympus will probably continue to manufacture and distribute the top
line OM system. Even though they are probably losing money on the
system, it only represents a mere fraction of their overall
photoware/microscope-ware production. Besides, the existence of a top
range professional SLR model line provides additional market
"legitimacy" to their P&S/ZLR/Digital camera-wares.
I believe Olympus is still the market leader in the P&S/ZLR market.
They are a significant force in the digital market as well.
I just wish they would produce a pro-level digital camera which is
compatible with the Zuiko lens arsenal. :-(
