Folks,
if you want to talk about comparions of the 90/2 to other lenses, at
least compare it to other macro lenses in the same focal range. From
photodo:
Tokina ATX 90/2.5 ------- 4.6
Leica 100/2.8 APO ------- 4.5
Minolta AF 100/2.8 ------ 4.5
Canon EOS 100/2.8 ------- 4.4
Pentax F 100/2.8 -------- 4.3
Tamron SP 90/2.8 -------- 4.3
Tamron SP 90/2.5 -------- 4.2
Olympus 90/2 ------------ 4.2
Sigma 90/2.8 AF --------- 4.2
Sigma AF 105/2.8 -------- 4.1
Nikon 105/2.8 AIS ------- 4.1
Nikon 105/2.8D AF ------- 3.9
Pentax 100/2.8 ---------- 3.9
Tokina ATX 100/2.8 ------ 3.9
Pentax FA 100/3.5 ------- 3.7
Vivitar/Cosina 100/3.5 -- 3.2
I can tell you that the sigma 90/2.8 is not distortion free,
and is thus not a real macro lens. So you haveto take these
numbers as nothing definitive. I would go so far to say
that I'd expect any of these except the cosina 100/3.5 and
pentax 100/3.5 (pentax's budget offering) to be pro-quality
lenses in every respect. The Zuiko is by far the best
of the lot at f/2 also :-)
