=======================
Ack! only 3.9 for the 100/2! At least the 90/2 got a 4.2! the zoom got
3.6, which is really good for a zoom.
=======================
It is good, but still behind the comparably priced EOS 28-70/2.8L
which was rated at 3.9. the Nikon 35-70/2.8D was 3.8, the
Nikon 28-70/2.8 came in at 3.7, and the Minolta 28-70/2.8
was 3.7.
The Zuiko came in next to last place among f/2.8 standard range zooms sold
by camera manufacturers, just edging out Pentax and the new Sigma which
both were at 3.5. I don't take these ratings as gospel-- for instance
the Sigma 24/2.8 is rated the highest 24mm lens by photodo, but my opinion
is that the nikon 24/2.8 AIS is a better lens, despite its lower rating.
in any case, rated at 3.6 by photodo, I don't think the 35-80/2.8 Zuiko
obsoletes a prime lens in the same range.
