The Large local SF Bay Area Kodak lab (it used to process KII) closed down a
few years back because they could not meet the very stringent local laws
outlawing putting any heavy metals in the Bay. They had actually done a
pretty good job of cleaning up their act but the local laws are very strict
due to years of Silicon Valley companies dumping all sorts of gold ,silver
and other metals into the Bay. There used to be a company here that had a
contract to reprocess the sewage which actually had sufficient gold in it to
be an economic business.
