A couple weeks ago, someone here mentioned a 650mm f6.8 Century
Aethenar T-mount on eBay. I did a little research, and then bid on
the lens, which I won. The glass was described as "absolutely
immaculate on the surfaces."
I received it today and put a body on it. Hmmm... awfully soft
looking. I took the camera off and looked through the lens --
spiderwebs everywhere! I took the hood off and looked at numerous
colonies on the front element, some of them over 1/2 cm (1/8th inch)
in diameter. It's a fungus condo!
The seller has agreed to take it back, and I agree to not give him
negative feedback if he returns all my money plus my expense of
shipping it back. We'll see.
But if you see this lens on eBay again, you've been warned!
