An element is a simple lens -- ie, one chunk of glass in a
compound lenses. A group is an element or set of elements
that are fixed together in the compound lens. Obviously,
# of elements >= # of groups. If # of groups < # of elements,
then some elements are cemented together into a single
group. E.g., 6 elts 5 groups means that two of the elements
are cemented together so they move as one unit.
