OK, semantics. I don't have my calculator at hand
(just a primitive Pentium computer without the
calculator program here at work), but a reproduction
ratio of 1/2.6 should be the same as a magnification
of .43X

I don't have a calculator at hand either, but you can multiply 43 by 2.5
by multiplying by 10 and dividing by 4 to get 107.5, that is
already larger than 100. adding in 0.1*43, or 4.3 you get
2.6*43 = 111.8. thus, .43 is larger than 1/2.6 since 1/2.6 = 43/111.8.
they aren't far apart, but if this is the result of rounding off for ease of
presentation, 2.6 and .43 are atypical numbers to choose to round to.
